Local teams get rolling in OIBA tournament

Five local teams have chances to win the 2010 OIBA state tournament

The season-ending Oregon Independent Baseball Association State Tournament kicked into gear yesterday (Wednesday) and continues through Sunday’s championship at Tigard High School.

And the tournament is stacked with Beaverton-area teams, including Westview, Sunset, Jesuit, Southridge and Beaverton.

First-round games in the 16-team tournament, held at Barlow and Tigard, were held after the Valley Times’ Wednesday press deadline.

Play continues today (Thursday) under the following scenarios:

With a win yesterday, Westview would play either Clackamas or Barlow at 4 p.m. today at Barlow. With a loss, Westview would play at 10 a.m. today at Barlow.

With a win yesterday, Sunset would play either Jesuit or Beaverton at 7 p.m. today at Barlow. With a loss, Sunset would play at 1 p.m. today at Barlow.

With a win yesterday, Jesuit would play either Sunset or Wilsonville at 7 p.m. today at Barlow. With a loss, Jesuit would play at 1 p.m. today at Barlow.

With a win yesterday, Beaverton would play either Sunset or Wilsonville at 7 p.m. today at Barlow. With a loss, Jesuit would play at 1 p.m. today at Barlow.

With a win yesterday, Southridge would play either Tigard or Lake Oswego at 4 p.m. today at Tigard. With a loss, Southridge would play at 10 a.m. today at Tigard.

Semifinal games are set for 7 p.m. Friday at Tigard and Barlow. The first championship game is set for 1 p.m. Sunday at Tigard and, if necessary, a second game is due at 4 p.m. Sunday.
